UBC TA's reach tentative agreement

On Nov. 6, the Bargaining Committee of CUPE 2278,  the TA's at UBC,  reached a tentative deal with the employer to renew their collective agreement.
After more than two years of negotiations, two rounds of mediation and more than a week of job action, the Bargaining Committee
is unanimous in recommending the tentative agreement to the members for ratification.
All job action has now been suspended by the union at UBC.

BCGEU ratifies

Both the government and the union put out press releases calling the agreement a success.

However, the union's release repeated that they were frustrated by the government's refusal to pay the full cost of members' professional fees.
The ratification vote was 64%. The Tyee story has fuller details.
